Our Learning Approach:

The AOB consists of five academies, divided by instrument. Each of the five award-winning AOB musician/teachers presents a separate, encyclopedic curriculum of their instrument. All levels, from beginner to extremely advanced, are covered in the curriculum. The curriculum is divided into dozens of "bite-sized" lessons. These lessons were custom-created especially for the AOB and are not available anywhere else. They were professionally filmed at ArtistWorks Studio in Napa, CA. The lessons employ multiple camera angles that make sure every student sees exactly what is going on. Faster passages are presented in pitch-corrected slow-motion. Where appropriate, downloadable notation/tablature is provided. Students move through the curriculum at their own pace. All enrolled students have immediate access to the entire video lesson curriculum and all supplemental material.
Personalized instruction and feedback is available to enrolled students via "Video Exchanges", which work like this: Students use their own webcams to film their practice session, and then upload the video to their teacher for reaction and guidance. We call the pairing of a student-submitted video, with the teacher's reaction/guidance video, a "Video Exchange". All Video Exchanges between teacher and student are permanently posted, allowing even those students who don't upload their own videos to learn from those who do. AOB Video Exchanges utilize ArtistWorks patent-pending Video Management System, only found on ArtistWorks sites. The groundbreaking Video Exchange approach to the instruction of musical instruments is already implemented at these online schools, which collectively teach thousands of students all over the world.
